Thank you all so very much for responding to the "giveaway" described in the newsletter. It's a wonder gmail has not crashed, so many emails have been received—I never expected so many! The giveaway has closed now—and the first 30 respondents will receive their stationery packs within the next couple of weeks. And for those of you who included messages about
The Care and Management of Lies—I will read through them all over the coming days, but wanted to thank you so much for your kind words and support.
And as a final word, on August 4th—the official 100th anniversary of the start of WW1, the "Great War"—perhaps stop what you are doing for a moment or two and think of the men, women and children around the globe who were so severely impacted by the first catastrophic war of modern times, and those who are today suffering as a result of conflict in places around the world. The Great War might have begun 100 years ago—but we are still experiencing the fallout today.
In my "Skylarks above No Man's Land" essay, I share my first visit to the Somme and Ypres battlefields of World War I. You can
read it here.
With all good wishes,
Jacqueline
